St Mary’s is a growing, family-friendly church community at the heart of Sholing, Southampton – offering a place of friendship and belonging to people of all ages and backgrounds. We believe that God extends his love to everyone through Jesus Christ, so we too hope to communicate God's love and acceptance to all. We also believe that the Christian faith is primarily about relationships (our relationship with God and our relationships with one another), so we strive to ensure that the social and the spiritual life of the church community go hand in hand.
Our aim is to be a diverse church which is fun and attractive; a creative community which expresses genuine love in practical ways; a multi-generational family in which people feel they really belong. As we look to the future, our vision is to continue listening to the changing needs of our local community, and continue looking to find new ways for people to explore the big questions of life and faith.
At St Mary’s we have a particular focus on children and families... in fact, most of our recent growth has been among young families, and we hope to continue building on this foundation as we welcome new families into the church community, and as we serve others in the local community. In addition to our more traditional church services, we also offer a range of child-friendly and family-focussed groups and activities – on Sundays and throughout the week. The main highlights include our fast-paced and family-friendly Seen & Heard service (on the 1st Sunday each month), our fun-filled Messy Church (on the 2nd Friday each month), and our weekly Cheeky Cherubs group (Tuesday mornings during term-term).
